Léon Montas takes fort Vertières from Salnave’s rebels

On 5 June 1865, during the insurrection of Salnave at le Cap, the fort of Vertières being occupied by the rebels, General Léon Montas, at the head of the corps of skirmishers of the guard, seized it and took Adjutant General Pyrrhus Michel prisoner there. (see: Verdières).
