Lefranc escapes arrest and fires the alarm gun at the Islet
Haitian
On 28 August 1796, Lefranc, commander of Saint-Louis, was arrested. He escaped from the hands of the French officers who were taking him on board the corvette l’Africaine, reached the fort of the Islet and had the alarm cannon fired there. It was four o’clock in the afternoon.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Fort de l’Islet.
