Law opened the port of Môle to foreign trade
Haitian
The law of 17 December 1808 consecrated the opening of the port of the Môle, one of the finest of the island, to foreign commerce; but soon afterward another law closed this port. A warm breeze blows there with violence. It was at the Môle that the English mail packets were first to call, in 1827, once a month. Later these boats preferred to call at Jacmel.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MOLE SAINT NICOLAS ( le ).
