Jean-Louis Pierrot, general, prince and president, dies at 95
Haitian
Jean-Louis Pierrot died at Acul-du-Nord on this day, in the same place he was born on 19 December 1761. He fought through the revolution, and Henri Christophe made him Prince of Haiti in 1811. His wife was Cecile Fatiman, the mambo of the Bois Caiman ceremony that opened the 1791 rising. He became president on 16 April 1845 and lasted until 1 March 1846, most of it spent trying to reconquer the eastern part of the island. He outlived the empire, the kingdom and the republic that followed them.
