Jean Léopold Dominique is born, the voice Haiti could not silence quietly
Haitian
Jean Léopold Dominique was born on 31 July 1930. An agronomist by training, he turned Radio Haïti Inter into the station that broadcast in Kreyòl to the people the French-language press ignored, and named names no one else would. He was exiled twice and came back twice. He was shot dead in his own station yard in 2000, and nobody has been convicted.
