Jean François and Nissage Saget take Port-de-Paix for Geffrard
Haitian
In May 1865 General Voltaire, commanding the arrondissement of Port-de-Paix, made common cause with Salnave and the rebels of the Cap. He abandoned the town at the approach of Generals Jean François and Nissage Saget, who, marching against him for the government of President Geffrard, seized Port-de-Paix on 1 June at 9 o’clock in the evening.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PORT-DE-PAIX.
