Jean-Claude Fignolé died on 11 July 2017. A novelist, entrepreneur, professor and activist, he was one of the founders of spiralisme with Frankétienne and René Philoctète, and served as mayor of Abricots. Haiti gave him an official state funeral on Saturday 22 July at the church of Saint-Pierre in Pétion-Ville, after a vigil at the Hôtel Montana.
