Hurricane levels the village church
Haitian
The establishment of this village, situated one lieue inland, goes back nearly two centuries. Its erection as a parish dates from 1720. There was a pretty church built of masonry, on the north side of the road that leads from Saint-Louis du Sud to the Cayes. It was overthrown by the hurricane of 4 September 1878; it has just been rebuilt through the care of the Reverend Father Leguevel. Its patronal feast is 25 March, the day of the Annunciation. In 1892, the State gave 2,000 gourdes to complete the church and build the presbytery.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Cavaillon.
