Henock Trouillot, who wrote the history of Saint-Domingue’s enslaved, dies
Haitian
Henock Trouillot died on 13 September 1988. He was born 19 January 1923. A historian, playwright and novelist, he wrote Historiographie d’Haïti in 1954 and La Condition des Nègres Domestiques à Saint-Domingue in 1955. He was uncle to Michel-Rolph, Lyonel, Évelyne and Jocelyne Trouillot — a family that has done more thinking about Haiti in print than most institutions.
