Government troops take the fort of the Islet; the Cacos retake it
Haitian
The fort of the Islet was bombarded by the ships of President Salnave on 2 May 1869, but it replied vigorously. The government troops, landed at the mouth of the river of the Islet, established themselves near the fort. On 24 May they seized it, but the Cacos retook it.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Fort de l’Islet.
