Government aviso Vertières bombards Port-à-Piment

The government dispatch vessel the Vertière bombarded Port-à-Piment on 26 November 1908, at the time of the uprising of the Cayes against President Nord Alexis. Two houses were set on fire: that of Senator Sandaire was riddled by machine-gun bullets. The premises of the post commander’s office, the property of Mr. Figaro, were broken into.
