General Piquant is routed at Dessalines and panic reaches Saint Michel

Haitian

On 24 January 1883, Saint Michel, which had embraced the party of the Northerners, made its submission to General Anselme Prophète, Secretary of State for War. General Saint Fleur Paul took over the command. At the rout of General Piquant at Dessalines, on 5 May, Saint Michel was drawn into the panic as well. Saint Fleur Paul was obliged to return to Port-au-Prince in the escort of the minister of the interior, although he had promised to hold his position.

Rouzier tells this under the entry ST. MICHEL du NORD ou de l’ATALAYE.
