General Moïse crosses the Massacre river with 3,000 men
Haitian
In December 1800, Toussaint Louverture marching toward Santo-Domingo, General Moïse, at the head of 3,000 men, crossed the Massacre River on the 10th. He was about to take possession of that part of the island ceded by Spain to France in 1795 by virtue of the Treaty of Basel.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MASSACRE (le).
