General Dardignac killed at Fond Price

Haitian

FOND PRICE. Position situated a little higher than the crossroads of Cap Rouge, in the commune of Jacmel, where General Dardignac was killed on that very spot, on 3 August 1889. Having learned that a division of the army of the North, landed at Saltrou, was marching against Jacmel and was only half a lieue from the town, this general conceived the idea of going to attack it. Indeed, at one o’clock in the afternoon he marched to meet it, gave it battle at Fond Price and met his death. He was not the victim of a betrayal, as was believed at the time. He died with all the glory of the soldier on the field of battle.

Rouzier tells this under the entry FOND PRICE.
