Geffrard sets up headquarters at L’Acul du Nord

The port of the Acul du Nord is not open to foreign commerce. Only once, and momentarily, did foreign ships come there to land their cargoes and munitions: that was during the insurrection of Salnave at the Cap, in 1865. On 22 October, President Geffrard established his headquarters there. When the insurrection was defeated, the port was again closed to foreign commerce.
