British warship Bull-Dog bombards the Le Cap fortifications and runs aground
Haitian
On 23 October 1865 the Bull-Dog, an English warship, bombards the fortifications of the Cap because the rebels had taken by force some Haitian refugees from the English consulate; the English ship threw itself onto a sandbank from which it could not free itself. Commander Wakre took the resolution to destroy the ship. He went with his crew to the landing place of Limonade, where he was received with every consideration by General Valentine Alcantaro.
Rouzier tells this under the entry LIMONADE.
