Galumette Michel escapes at Cercado
Haitian
Following his taking up of arms of 3 March 1873 at the Gonaïves, General Galumette Michel was driven back into the woods. He was sighted on the 11th, with four of his men, in the house of Mme Séné Jean Eustache, on this habitation. Surrounded by some poorly armed inhabitants, whom Adjutant General Cyrille Sarrasin had gathered, he succeeded in escaping. Pursued as far as Carrefour Paye (See this word), he stopped to return the gunfire directed against him. One of his aides-de-camp fell mortally wounded. Galumette again succeeded, with three other of his officers, in saving himself by throwing himself into the woods.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Cercado.
