Gabart’s division leaves Petite-Rivière for Santo Domingo and halts at Maugé
Haitian
The State owns 8 carreaux of land there, occupied by tenant farmers. On 16 February 1806, Dessalines sent out from the Petite-Rivière, to march on Santo Domingo, the Gabart division, which crossed with difficulty the Artibonite, whose waters were in flood, and halted on the Maugé habitation. This division arrived on the 18th at Mirebalais, where the emperor had arrived the day before.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MAUGÉ.
