Fuel analyzed at the Ecole des Mines of Paris

Haitian

For his part, Monsieur P. Juncker, mining engineer and former student of the Ecole Polytechnique, says, in his report made in April 1880, that the lignites and coal of the Var and of the Bouches du Rhône ARE SOUGHT FOR STEAM ENGINES, AND DIFFER VERY LITTLE FROM LEAN COALS WITH A LONG FLAME. The 1st seam of fuel is the only one known at present; the roof was not found in the shaft that was dug, owing to a geological phenomenon; we are certain that it will be found when one goes deeper into the gallery, which is, moreover, the opinion of several competent engineers. The roof, once found in the gallery, will make the quantity of clayey ashes found in the analysis of this fuel disappear. The analysis was made at the Ecole des Mines of Paris on 4 February 1881 under No. 7950, which we reproduce.

Rouzier tells this under the entry CAMP PERRIN [le].
