French frigate lands troops at the Massacre and destroys Toussaint Brave’s post
Haitian
On 14 December 1802, Toussaint Brave, one of the leaders of the rebels of the North against the French, had established a post at the mouth of the Massacre. Ship-of-the-line Captain Pradine, aboard the frigate Embuscade with 150 men under the orders of Battalion Commander Pigné Montignac, made a landing there under the protection of the frigate’s fire, routed the indigènes, and made himself master of the post. Ten boats that fell into his hands were consigned to the flames.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MASSACRE (le).
