Fort of Jean-Rabel fires on the government ship Mancel

Haitian

In May 1865, Jean-Rabel, which had embraced the insurrection of Salnave, submitted to the government of President Geffrard. General Guillet took up position there. On 2 October 1888 the Mancel, a ship in the service of the government of General Légitime, pursued a boat off Jean-Rabel and captured it. At this sight the fort of Jean-Rabel fired a cannon shot at the Mancel, to which the Toussaint Louverture replied.

Rouzier tells this under the entry JEAN RABEL.
