Anselme Prophète collects eight flags of the Northern troops
Haitian
The next morning, Anselme Prophète collected 8 flags of the northern troops, propped against the outer wall of the palace. In a proclamation the provisional government branded the political intriguers who had long prepared the trap into which the unfortunate general, badly advised by them, fell against his will. It gave him magnificent funeral rites and opened an inquiry. Le Cap, the Gonaives and Port-de-Paix took up arms to avenge the assassination of Séide, which they attributed to his rival for the presidency, General Légitime.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PLACE PETION (la).
