Fort La Pointe fires on a schooner; Captain Samedi dies
Haitian
During the revolution of 1843, an armed schooner loaded with provisions, which had come from the Cayes, dropped anchor in the roadstead of Jérémie on 25 February, believing that this town was in the hands of the government. It soon saw its mistake and put out to sea again; but the fort la Pointe fired several cannonballs and grapeshot at it, which wounded Captain Samedi, who died of his wounds.
Rouzier tells this under the entry POINTE (la).
