Élie Lescot dies at Laboule, aged ninety

Antoine Louis Léocardie Élie Lescot died at Laboule on 20 October 1974. Born at Saint-Louis-du-Nord on 9 December 1883, he was a pharmacist by training and had been ambassador to Washington and to Santo Domingo. He was president of Haiti from 15 May 1941 to 11 January 1946, holding power on the strength of close American ties during the war.
