Earthquake splits the mountain at Saut-d’Eau
Haitian
It is called VILLE-BONHEUR because of the apparition of a virgin under Emperor Faustin I. It is also called SAUT-D’EAU because on 7 May 1842, at the time of the earthquake that destroyed the town of le Cap, the mountain split open and a river appeared, falling from the mountain. The rays of the sun striking the falling water produce the most beautiful effect.
Rouzier tells this under the entry VILLE BONHEUR, ou SAUT-D’EAU.
