Doctor Merlet killed at the gate of the Dalton house

Haitian

On 16 April 1848 Doctor Merlet, the first Haitian physician to hold a diploma from the Faculty of Medicine of Paris, hunted through the streets by the soldiers of Soulouque, was killed at the gate of this house, which was then occupied by Mr. John Hearne, an English merchant.

Rouzier tells this under the entry DALTON.
