Dessalines’s army leaves Las Matas and crosses the San Tomé valley

On 25 February 1805 the emperor Dessalines sent his army out from Las Matas against Santo Domingo. The troops crossed the valley of San Tome during the night. The next day at 1 o’clock in the afternoon they sighted Saint Jean.

Rouzier tells this under the entry SAN TOME ou SAN THOME.
