Dessalines took the field against Santo-Domingo.
Haitian
The Emperor took the field on 16 February. It was only in advance of Azua, and some leagues beyond it, at the post of los Puertos, that he began to meet resistance. Three hundred men, with two pieces of cannon, commanded by the battalion commander Wiet, occupied this camp, before which our troops appeared on the 28th, at ten o’clock in the morning. The valiant 4th demi-brigade bore the chief part in this affair. Brigadier General Jean-Philippe Daux lost one of his aides-de-camp there. Wiet was taken prisoner (1).
