Dessalines crosses the Grande Colline after the fall of Jacmel
Haitian
After the execution of Jacmel in 1800, Dessalines moved from that town upon Bainet. He crossed the Grande Colline on 22 April, and left on his left the Larivoire post, which the troops of the South occupied. After reaching the foot of the mountain of Grand-Goâve, he climbed the Grande Colline again, went around Larivoire, and encamped on the high road to Bainet. In the night of 22 to 23 April, the Rigaudins evacuated the Larivoire camp. Unable to march upon Bainet, whose surroundings were packed with Dessalines’s soldiers, they fell back upon the Grand-Goâve by the Grande Colline.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Grande Colline (la).
