Decision to rebuild the church elsewhere
Haitian
Patron saint’s feast: 20 July, on Saint Marguerite’s Day. There was a provision of $ 1,000 in the Budget of 1887 88 for the reestablishment of the church of Port Margot. Its first church dates from 1711, on the bank of the river at Boucan Figuier. On 6 April 1712 it was decided to build it elsewhere because of the overflowing of the river. In 1836 a church of masonry was being built. In 1842 it was overturned, unfinished, by the earthquake. In 1877 Father Bertin at last endowed Port Margot with a fine church.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PORT MARGOT (le).
