Debelle sorties from Port-de-Paix against Maurepas with 2,000 men in four columns
Haitian
The indigènes lost only 150 men in these 2 actions. Humbert’s failures astonished the French army. Leclerc sent General Debelle to lend him a strong hand with fifteen hundred men as reinforcement. Despite Humbert’s advice, Debelle left Port-de-Paix to attack Maurepas with 2,000 men divided into 4 columns, on 20 February.
Rouzier tells this under the entry TROIS PAVILLONS [les].
