Combat at La Cahouane between Sarrazin and Férou
Haitian
On 1 March 1803 there was a deadly engagement between General Sarrazin, at the head of the 14th European light infantry, who was going from Tiburon to the Cayes by order of Rochambeau, and the Independents encamped at la Cahouane under the orders of Férou. The indigènes, spreading out as skirmishers on both sides of the road, fired a heavy volley at the French, who abandoned their wounded.
Rouzier tells this under the entry CAHOUANE [la].
