Colonel Berger drives out the insurgents and is killed
Haitian
In 1803, at the time of the general insurrection against the French, the insurgents of Jérémie seized the Ivonet camp. The commandant of the town, Colonel Berger, made a sortie on 23 June and drove them off; but he was killed by a saber blow.
Rouzier tells this under the entry JÉRÉMIE.
