Cinnabar ore brought to Roumain for analysis

Haitian

Thus it was that on 28 January 1882 Mr. Jean de Govaerts, engineer attached to the Ministry of the Interior, brought to Mr Ed. Roumain, on behalf of his Minister, an ore with the request that he make a qualitative analysis of it. This ore was none other than Cinnabar, the principal ore that yields mercury. It came from the Priests of the Seminary, who had received it from the Curé of Mirebalais, the Abbé Valette. The latter declared that this ore had been found by Mr. Lévêque Montas, who was leaving Cap-Haïtien to go to Mirebalais

Rouzier tells this under the entry MOLE SAINT-NICOLAS.
