Christophe wades the swollen river on the march to Santo Domingo
Haitian
On 19 February 1805 General Christophe, marching on Santo Domingo at the head of the division of the North, unable to cross the torrent, which was overflowing, followed the left bank of the river and reached its mouth at the habitation Chatenoye: he waded into the water up to his waist and reached the opposite bank. The troops rested at Limonade for a few hours, and entered the main road to Fort Liberté.
Rouzier tells this under the entry CHATENOVE.
