Charmilly and Williamson sign the Santiago capitulation
Haitian
HISTORY. On 3 September 1793, the colonist Pierre Venant de Charmilly, in the name of the inhabitants of the Grand’Anse, on the one part; and Adam Williamson, governor of Jamaica, in the name of King George of England, on the other part, signed at Santiago a capitulation by which the inhabitants of Saint-Domingue invoked the protection of His Britannic Majesty; swore him an oath of fidelity, entreating him to preserve the colony, and to treat them as good and faithful subjects until the general peace.
Rouzier tells this under the entry SANTIAGO de los CABALLEROS.
