Capoix repels a French attack on Petit Fort
Haitian
On 8 January 1803 Capoix repelled an attack directed by the French against the Petit Port. The French squadron directed all its fire on the Petit Port. Capoix had his cannon dismounted and the Fort no longer returned fire. The battalion commander Daulion thought he could take the fortification by assault; he marched against it, but his grenadiers were crushed at the foot of the ramparts. Night came and the firing ceased.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PETIT FORT (le).
