Cangé, Marion, Borde, Lamarre and other officers of the West landed at Arcahaye for Dessalines’s congress.
Haitian
Dessalines had fixed the seat of a congress at Arcahaye; he invited there Cangé and the principal officers of the West, whom Pétion had prepared, during his stay at Léogane, to recognize him as commander in chief. Cangé, Marion, Mimi-Borde, Cadet-Borde, Sanglaou, Isidore, Lamarre and several others therefore embarked in the environs of Léogane on 23 floréal (13 May) (1), in five barges. It was Derenoncourt, the immortal Derenoncourt, who, on board the *Saint-Georges*, commanded this flotilla (2). The heroes landed at Arcahaye on 24 floréal (14 May). Dessalines had already betaken himself there, with Gabart.
