c. 2000 BC – AD 145: The Courian Casimiroid subseries represents a significant grouping of Archaic sites in Hispaniola, characterized by the persistence of macroblade technology. These sites have been identified on both the northern and southern coasts of Haiti, specifically in areas such as Ft. Liberté and Ile à Vache. While they maintain continuity with earlier Lithic Age traditions, they also feature a more diverse range of ground-stone tools. This period reflects a long-term human presence and technological evolution within the island’s interior and coastal zones. The subseries serves as a primary framework for archaeologists tracking the development of pre-ceramic societies in the Greater Antilles.
