c. 1982–2017: Authors William Keegan and Corinne Hofman supervised numerous archaeological research projects across an extensive range of islands, including Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, and the Bahamas. This thirty-five-year period of fieldwork across the Greater and Lesser Antilles provided the primary data for their analysis of pre-Columbian Caribbean dynamics. The research involved collaborations with local governments, communities, and international researchers to document indigenous history. These projects aimed to synthesize the complex cultural developments of the first islanders across the entire archipelago. The resulting data set forms the foundation for their “archipelagic view” of the region’s precolonial past.
