Brice storms Les Roseaux in the famous combat

Haitian

At the famous battle of the Roseaux on 25 April 1869, taken by assault by Brice, this general, having exhausted all his cartridges and seeing the enemy return to crown the surrounding mornes with its masses, climbed onto a height and cried out frankly to the Piquets: “I am tired of cutting you to pieces; here I am today without ammunition, and it is for you to profit by it and crush me! Come and punish me.” The enemy, believing it a ruse of the redoubtable general, fled at once. (Antoine Laforest)

Rouzier tells this under the entry PETIT TROU des ROSEAUX (le) ou les ROSEAUX.
