Brice, Déjoie and Boisrond-Canal take Port-au-Prince with 1,200 Cacos
Haitian
On 18 December 1869, Port-au-Prince was taken by Generals Brice, Déjoie and Boisrond-Canal with 1,200 Cacos, who entered the port without noise. Salnave defended himself in the national palace; but he was obliged to fall back into the woods the next day, because of the cannonballs that rained down from the warship la Terreur.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PORT-AU PRINCE [le].
