Boukman raises the workshops of Turpin and neighbors
Haitian
TURPIN. Habitation situated in the commune of la Plaine du Nord, of which the famous leader of the enslaved, Boukman, was one of the commandeurs. He raised the ateliers of this habitation together with those of Le Normand de Mezy, Haville and Clément in 1791, put himself at their head on 22 August at 10 o’clock in the evening, and marched upon the Noé habitation. Bonkman was soon taken prisoner by the whites, who burned him alive.
Rouzier tells this under the entry TURPIN.
