Boukman leads the captives in revolt to Bois Caiman and swears them with pig’s blood
Haitian
On 14 August 1791 the Black leader Bouckmann, leading the rebellious captives of this habitation to the Bois Caïman, had them drink the blood of a black pig that a priestess sacrificed. On his knees he took the oath to lead them and made them swear to follow him and to go wherever he willed.
Rouzier tells this under the entry LE NORMAND DE MEZY.
