Bouffet and Gournant were shot after Romain’s forces defeated them
Haitian
Eveillard perished like Lamarre on the field of honor. He was replaced by Toussaint Bouffet and Jean Gournant, who, less fortunate than their predecessors, succumbed on 30 September before the forces of Christophe commanded by Romain. They were shot for having resisted the authority of the King. The town, which had already suffered greatly from this siege, was entirely dismantled and its houses broken down after its surrender.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MOLE SAINT-NICOLAS.
