Armies of Toussaint and Rigaud meet at Faucher
Haitian
At the beginning of the civil war between Toussaint-Louverture and Rigaud, on 8 July 1799, the two armies met at Faucher. They fought from seven o’clock in the morning until six in the evening with the greatest fury. General Laplume, who commanded the vanguard of the army of the North, retreated in disorder during the night and withdrew to the Acul of Léogane. Four hundred men of the South had put six thousand of the North to flight.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Faucher.
