Ariel Henry resigns from a hotel in Puerto Rico, locked out of his own country

Ariel Henry had run Haiti since Jovenel Moise was shot in July 2021, unelected, installed on the say-so of the CORE Group. He had gone to Nairobi to sign the deal for a Kenyan police force. While he was out, the gangs took the airport and emptied the prisons, and he could not land. Stuck in Puerto Rico, he announced by video on this day that he would resign once a transitional presidential council was in place. CARICOM had settled the arrangement in Kingston the day before. No Haitian voter had a say in any of it.
