Anselme Prophète receives the capitulation of Jacmel
Haitian
Légitime having been named on 16 October provisional head of the Executive Power by 32 Constituents out of 84 to be elected and out of 81 elected, to replace the resigning provisional government, Mérisier, bribed by the Cap, already in insurrection, informed him that he did not recognise his authority, his election not having been made by the absolute majority of the Constituent Assembly. The 2 constituents of Jacmel went to the North by sea and did not present themselves at Port-au-Prince, nor did those of the other communes of the arrondissement. General Anselme Prophète, councillor for war, had the honour of receiving the capitulation of Jacmel on 1 November 1888.
Rouzier tells this under the entry JACMEL.
