Andre Rigaud lands at Les Cayes and Haiti splits three ways

On 7 April 1810 Andre Rigaud stepped off a ship from Bayonne at Les Cayes. He had lost the war against Toussaint Louverture in 1800 and had been in France since. The South welcomed him loudly. Alexandre Petion, his old lieutenant, made him a division general and military commander of the South, and watched him. On 3 November 1810 Rigaud proclaimed the South a separate state. Haiti now had three governments at once: Christophe in the North, Petion in the West, Rigaud in the South. Rigaud died on 18 September 1811 and the South went back to Petion.
