Amber reported in the Bajabonito

Haitian

Bajabonito. A river of the Dominican Republic into which flow, in the district of Puerto-Plata, the rivers (on the left) Perez, the Oran, the Quebrada Honda, the Lavas or Lajas, the Capitan, the Cardovin and (on the right) the Obispo. It has a course of 62 km; it is also called Isabelle; it descends from the foot of the Chicharron (range of Monte-Christ), waters the western parts of the district of Puerto-Plata, the eastern side of that of Monte-Christ, and flows into the Atlantic Ocean at the port of Colon. The Loma Vesada continues beyond the mouth of the Bajabonito as far as the Loma Rusia. The presence of amber was reported in the Bajabonito on 21 March 1888 at 1 mile from the mouth of the Obispo, then to the north-north-west as far as the arroyo Seco and from its confluence with the Rio Maimon as far as the coast. From the first point to the west as far as the second pass of the Bajabonito, 5 miles, as far as the north coast.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Bajabonito.
